It's totally a business and public company, and always takes care of shareholders' interests, sometimes on the verge of a hike, promotions, or a little bonus cut.
I understand engineers don't matter much when a company's worth can increase by $60 billion within six months just because of a few management decisions. But product matters, and products are derived by engineers. My advice is to take care of your assets, meaning your engineers.
