Pros

It's easy to take time out for family and personal stuff. Some teams work on cutting-edge projects and are very good for learning, but there are also a lot of other teams which work on sustaining old products and don't have a lot of learning opportunities.

Cons

Compensation and other perks are not that great, and it's hard to get a promotion.

Lots of bureaucracy to contend with.

The constant lay-offs and changes in direction can also make it difficult for you to focus.

Advice to Management

Cut down on the bureaucracy. Reduce management overhead and invest in new technologies.
