Cisco was a place where we worked hard and treated each other with respect. I was fortunate to have great managers throughout my 20 years at Cisco. My managers gave me authority to make decisions and did not micromanage. I led a small team of software engineers, and we had great team chemistry.
The only downside was the sometimes unrealistic expectations of our customers. I was in software support, and the customers expected instant results even on complex problems that took weeks to resolve.
Continue to reward and demand innovation.
Was first contacted by a staffing agency based on a resume posted to one of the resume websites. One interview with four people, one at a time. Some technical and some social questions.
The interview took place in a hotel conference room. We were then given a tour that they give to prospective corporate clients. We were never given an opportunity to see the offices themselves.
The interview process was a standard session of writing pseudocode to solve a generic problem.
