Pros

Virtual set-up is excellent (you pay for your ISP access and cell phone).

Training is widely available in your chosen discipline.

Excellent for remote workers, but watch your "6" all the time.

Cons

When it comes to reorgs, layoffs do not offer employees rehoming opportunities. You have to apply to listed positions. During a layoff period, people applying are viewed differently. Cisco relies heavily on contractors (contracts are 90 days with extensions) and H-1Bs.

Advice to Management

Treat employees like they are important and not easily replaceable widgets.
