Depending on what area of the business you are in and management, you can determine your career path. If you're in good with management and can get assigned the right projects, you can accelerate your career; otherwise, you're a cog in a big machine.
Lots of politics going on and jockeying for position. Talent is often times overlooked if you aren't a vocal person.
Pay attention to the solid workers that don't say much but keep the machine working. Squeaky wheels often get promoted, but they are all talk and no action and cause a lot of disruption.
