Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I was contacted about a position by a recruiter from Comcast who was very excited about my resume. After hearing about the position, I expressed my interest.

I was contacted by someone a few days later who scheduled two separate phone interviews with the Hiring Manager and the Director, which were a few days apart.

After the second phone interview, I was contacted to schedule a face-to-face interview with four (4) different people; two of whom I had just done a phone interview with. The interviews were all scheduled for the same day.

I arrived the day of the interview to find that two of the managers were not available and I would need to come back to interview with them. The reschedule was for the next week, seven days later.

I made it to the last interview and thought all went well. I did not hear back from the recruiter for almost two weeks, as the managers were very busy.

Once I heard from the recruiter, she indicated that the team wanted to offer me a position, but not as full-time as it was listed, but contract-to-hire. They wanted to know my expected rate.

After giving the rate I wanted, I did not hear back from the recruiter for over a week. Once I did, she said the team had concerns about my requested rate.

I was okay with being flexible and asked that the team counter with a rate they wanted to pay. I did not hear back from the recruiter for another week, and this time it was via email telling me the team decided not to move forward.

The interview process was very unprofessional. How can you make an offer without a salary?

After six weeks of interviewing, they reposted the position.

Overall feeling: Comcast does not want to pay for the experienced professionals they are looking for.
