I applied at an online job posting. I was emailed by an HR recruiter to set up a phone screen a week after my application.
The phone screen went well. It was just basic HR questions about my background, the position, etc. It was about a 10-minute phone call.
I asked a few questions, all of which he couldn't answer because he worked remotely and told me the hiring manager would be able to answer my questions better. He said they would contact me in the next few days, but I never heard from them again, so I assumed I did not get the job.
I wish they would have just told me, especially since he told me to expect a follow-up.
