Web Developer Interview Experience - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Process

I responded to a cattle call email I got through an email list. The email said they were looking for various types of developers. I sent in my resume, and a recruiter invited me to a job fair. After inviting me, the recruiter asked me for samples of work, specifically tableless designs, which I sent.

When I got there, it wasn't a traditional job fair format; it was a series of 1-on-1 interviews with 3 or 4 staffers. A couple of them mentioned that they didn't know they were doing an interview that day or weren't good at interviewing.

I found out during the series of interviews that they were actually looking for front-end people, preferably with Freemarker experience, and that their back-end is Java. I'm a PHP developer, so...

I left with a CIM water bottle and flash drive. The people I interviewed with were nice, but their screening process could be a lot better to avoid wasting everyone's time.
