I applied for a front-end position (with a few years of experience) online and promptly received an email from Confluent's recruiting team.

I then scheduled a roughly 60-minute technical online/phone screen at my convenience with a Confluent engineer.

The phone screen covered standard JavaScript topics. I had to implement some commonly seen utility functions.

The onsite interview was also quite standard. At a high level, mine consisted of:

• A general algorithm problem interview
• A system design interview plus some HTML/CSS
• Lunch with a couple of team members (not an interview)
• A front-end focused interview (build a reusable component in native JS or your framework of choice)
• A general interview/discussion with the Director of Engineering

Overall, I had a very positive impression of Confluent. The Palo Alto office looked quite new and modern (and had a few dogs!), and the product seems to present plenty of interesting engineering challenges.

Unfortunately, I had another exciting offer at the time that I accepted. However, Confluent seems like a cool place to work.
