Pace + Impact: Coupang is like "Amazon on steroids" — fast-paced with lean teams that deliver massive impact. There's clarity in goals, minimal bureaucracy, and extreme focus on execution.

Top-Tier Talent: The interview process was world-class. I interacted with some of the sharpest engineering minds, and the rigor reminded me of early Amazon's Principal Engineering bar.

Ownership Culture: You’re not waiting around to be told what to do. You own your domain and drive outcomes. This is rare to find, especially for senior leaders in offshore centers like BLR.

Timezone Advantage: Working from Bangalore, I can collaborate effectively across geographies and still wrap up early enough to spend quality evening time with family.

Cons

Fast pace isn’t for everyone: If you’re used to slower cycles or require a lot of structure to operate, you may find the culture overwhelming at first.

High expectations: The bar is high, especially at senior levels. This is a feature, not a bug — but it can be intense.

Still maturing in some BLR support functions: While engineering is world-class, a few support areas are still scaling up to match the company’s global pace.

Advice to Management

Keep investing in the Bangalore tech hub — the blend of deep ownership and timezone leverage is a superpower.

Keep raising the bar on hiring, but ensure internal career growth and visibility remain strong too.
