Senior Front End Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

After a great initial recruiter interview and a first round with a senior engineering manager where technical discussions were held and everything seemed like a great match, I had a second-round interview with two regular engineers on the team.

One of them seemed pretty disinterested in being there. There wasn't much discussion of actual problem-solving. They mostly just took turns going through a list of textbook-style questions, asking for definitions of concepts and a few on the exact syntax to use in JavaScript – things that any developer could look up quickly but may not have memorized for an interview, so (in my opinion) not of much value.

One problem was that they were not very responsive to my questions to elaborate on what they were asking, so I think they were mostly just looking for a correct memorized response to be spat out.

However, I can't be sure, as I only received a generic rejection email six days later and no response to my follow-up questions. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time applying to this company.
