Initial interviews were conducted via video call and lasted 30 minutes to assess fitness, value, and your potential needs. The questions were reasonable, with most being fairly predictable. However, there were a few stand-out questions, such as reflecting on past colleagues you enjoyed working with and why.
The process was adequate, though there was some inefficient communication with HR. For example, they requested interview slots but failed to mention the interviewer was in a different time zone.
The technical screening interview was also fine. I really enjoyed discussing the interview problem and learning about working at DataBricks.
Next, I moved to the on-site round. While I could have been more proactive in providing additional information, the questions from their side were almost identical to the screening ones. Areas they had signaled as important, such as growth and recruitment, did not come up. Instead, there was a focus on executing product strategy.
The questions didn't really align with the job description at the time; it appears to be more up-to-date now.
I'm happy I got as far as I did, as the on-site experience was underwhelming and cost me a day of vacation.
