First, I got a call with an HR representative for about 30 minutes. We discussed what I knew of the company, my background and experience, and my motivation.

Then, I had a first coding interview, which was a technical screening with a Datadog employee. I had to solve two problems in the language of my choice. The overall experience was really good, and afterward, I spoke with the employee about his job and other topics.

Next, I went through what they call the Panel interviews, which consist of four interviews:

• One System Design interview
• One HR partner interview
• Two coding interviews

I received feedback in-between each round of interviews from the HR person in charge of the process, which was really pleasant. They were proactive in updating me at each step of the process to make it a less stressful experience.

After debriefing on their side, they put me in touch with Team Leaders to ensure the best possible match between what I wanted to do and their needs. I then accepted a final offer.

The first HR interview was a classic opening interview, covering topics like motivation, Datadog, your technical background, work experience, and what you're looking for. The HR representative understood technical topics very well, so don't hesitate to explain your past projects.

The first technical screening involved two problems within one hour (LeetCode easy to medium difficulty, performed on Coderpad):

• Find the maximum sum from root to leaf in a tree.
• Detect character repetitions in an input string.

Then, the panel round of interviews included:

• HR Partner interview: I interviewed with a Director of Engineering. You must talk in depth about a past project you participated in that aligns with Datadog's work and demonstrates your experience. I also answered many classic interview questions and some technical questions about my project.

• System Design interview: Design an app to aggregate your bank account balance and send notifications if it drops below a certain threshold.

• Coding Interview I: A problem involving parsing logs and then outputting an aggregated recap when prompted with queries.

• Coding Interview II: A problem concerning a regex matcher for strings with wildcard mechanisms.
