Despite preaching a product model based on multidisciplinary teams with designers and software engineers, in practice management is by competence and the teams are, in fact, project teams with people allocated indirectly and acting in multiple part-time roles.
The company still feels like a startup, even after 40 years of existence. It is very internally disorganized, with many teams doing the same things and fighting for funds to maintain conflicting projects.
