Pros

The work isn't as demanding as I was used to after so many years working for Brazilian companies. There are indeed some expectations, but you don't need to be constantly working and clocking hours to justify your effort. There's a great deal of trust in what you're doing and delivering. Every year there's a negotiation for an increase in your value based on merit, in addition to the union's increase.

Cons

For employees in Brazil, specifically those allocated in Rio Grande do Sul, the Metalworkers' Union of Porto Alegre is very weak. The raises are ridiculous because they have a cutoff value. So, if you earn above (generally) 8000, your raise is a fixed amount, usually something between 200 to 300 reais, which doesn't even cover the inflation rate.

Advice to Management

Melhorar os benefícios de Vale Alimentação e, principalmente, verificar um melhor sindicato para os funcionários.
