Pros
  • Incredible work/life balance. Dell offers the ultimate flexibility for an engineer. Ideal for parents who can basically create the absolute perfect working hours for themselves.
  • Great management.
  • Amazing benefits.
  • Above-average salary with a yearly bonus, which is nice.
  • Good tech stack.
  • Get good exposure to both frontend and backend development.
  • Excellent team that is always willing to help each other.
  • Brilliant chance to upskill with access to Pluralsight, O'Reilly, and other learning websites on request if you wish.
  • Dell definitely tries hard to look after its employees.
Cons
  • The work at times for months can be very tedious, which makes working from home difficult.
  • Yearly pay increases are very small.
  • A lot of legacy code to be worked on, which can be very messy.
  • Almost zero testing being done on the front end.
  • Promotions are quite rare from what I can see.
Advice to Management

Dell's management is fantastic. They do a great job managing the vast amount of jobs to be done on a giant codebase. They are very approachable and always willing to listen. Regardless if you were a junior, senior, or principal engineer, they will listen to each person equally. Management will always encourage you to speak up if you need anything at all, which is awesome.
