The interview process was well driven. The first step was an online assessment test, which consisted of MCQs.
After clearing this, I was invited for a face-to-face interview, which had 3 rounds:
The technical rounds were pretty easy, and the interviewers were very friendly. The technical interviews included all basics on Java, testing, and frameworks.
I cleared both technical rounds and was taken forward for the managerial round. The manager was also very friendly and was just focusing on knowing me better. This round is completely about you.
It went so well, and when I asked for feedback, he said, "You were excellent."
Then he asked me to wait for HR for paperwork.
Afterwards, a few names were called, and they were told, "You guys didn't clear the first round. You can leave for the day."
But I and one other person had already gone to the 3rd round. So we told her we were both waiting for the HR round, as the same thing was conveyed to us by the manager.
She cross-checked with the interviewers and said, "You guys didn't clear the manager round."
I was utterly shocked as I got positive feedback but was then informed of rejection. It was totally unexpected.
At least when asked for feedback after the interview, if you are going to reject, please don't create hope by saying, "Wait for HR and paperwork."
