I applied through LinkedIn. They were looking for developers to work with a popular Java stack revolving around Spring or Play.
Mentioned in the ad were also Kotlin and Scala.
During my talk with HR, they presented all of their projects, including some based on Adobe AEM and Hybris. These weren't mentioned in the ad, and I stated I am not interested.
We proceeded with the technical interview.
It was rather general and standard: Java questions from memory model and GC to collections, and Java 8 features. Also, some easy general questions about HTTP, Linux, and whatnot.
I passed this interview and was scheduled for a talk with a line manager.
He was surprised that I wanted a senior-level position and did not have experience as a team lead. He also insisted on the fact that they needed a senior developer to work on a Hybris project.
I stated again that I am not interested in those kinds of projects.
He also asked what processes I had optimized in my previous roles at other companies.
I received a rejection email shortly after that. I consider it to be time wasted.
Give a general overview of the Java memory model.
