Pros

Great people in the studios.

Good diversity.

Lots of teamwork.

Willing to hire people with non-traditional career paths.

Great vacation time.

Nice variety of projects and freedom to pick the kind of projects you enjoy.

Lots of opportunities to learn and advance your skillset.

Nice culture.

I think it’s a great place for anyone early in their career to get a big name on their resume and get lots of projects and experience under their belt.

Cons

The pay is not competitive for the field and area.

The recruiters are crafty liars. They tell people the level given will be based on experience, then give them a level 4, which they don’t mention is actually the lowest level despite sounding mid-level. They claim you can get bonuses at the end of the year, but don’t mention level 4s are not eligible for bonuses.

The levels seem to be partly based on your gender - multiple women were a level way below their actual skill level, and multiple men were leveled too high. They know it. Management would discuss the problem but then claim they just couldn’t fix it. They still expect you to work at your actual skill level, not the lower one they hired you at. When they do promote you to a higher level, the salary increase is barely enough to match inflation.

Work-life balance is sometimes not ideal, but not atypical for consulting.

Advice to Management

Be more open about levels and what they mean. Have responsibilities clearly defined for each level.
