Pros

Great company (if you can tolerate the liberal culture) that takes pretty good care of its employees. Salary and pay raises ensure that employees receive commensurate pay that other companies offer. Employees have a choice of four different healthcare companies. PTO accrues at 7.5 hours every two weeks. The company offers a pension and 401K. The US firm shuts down between Christmas and New Year's and offers extra free days off, such as the 4th of July and the day after Thanksgiving.

Cons

Micromanagement seems to have entered the scene, which now includes everything you do being documented, combined with daily team meetings that can go on for hours and negatively impact productivity. This finishes the week with a one-on-one meeting to go over everything you documented.

It feels like the days of the empowered employee are over, and it is near impossible for large companies like this to restore empowerment to the workforce.

Advice to Management

Empowered employees are happy employees and will go out of their way to get things done after hours and on holidays, but daily visits to the proctologist can wear teams down.

Corporate structures naturally mandate that employees report back to their manager, which means that middle and upper managers are likely never going to get direct feedback from the worker bees. If you're in middle management, then it would be in your best interest to get to know the employees under your managers better before the wheels come off the bus.

There should be an easier way to apply to internal positions on other teams without having to go through your boss to do it.
