Pros

Good pay, team-building activities, and benefits.

Cons

Cutthroat politics. Do not tolerate failure of deliverable product timelines not met. Tasks are set with unrealistic time frames. Downstream, as promised delivery dates approach, original time frames of the last tasks are compressed because of earlier task overruns by other individuals, thus causing high amounts of overtime work-life imbalanced stress. Ageism is heavily leveraged in support of lower-paid recent college grads expected to have 30 years of experience under their belt.

Advice to Management

Stop promoting technical people to management positions without people skills or leadership training. Without those skills and training, it leads to and promotes the blame game (aka burying the leader failure), and the wrong people get managed out.
