The recruiter screen was ordinary. The hiring manager call went really well. The coding interview was conducted on CoderPad with two engineers who would be my direct reports. The coding problem was reasonably challenging and relevant, requiring the completion of two source files.
One of the engineers repeatedly took control of the session, overriding both me and the other engineer. He would switch to the other file without warning, which completely disrupted the flow of the exercise and made completion impossible. I suggested that we agree on when to switch pages, which apparently agitated him. The other engineer was utterly passive throughout this interaction.
It was the weirdest interview ever. It ended poorly. I attempted to schedule a call with the hiring manager to discuss what had happened, but he was "unavailable".
What should have been a simple CoderPad frontend challenge.
