After going through a referral, a recruiter contacted me weeks later. I already had offers in hand when I contacted the recruiter, so they fast-tracked the hiring manager screen and subsequent screening rounds.
I had an initial hiring manager screen and then moved to the screening rounds, which consisted of two parts: one system design and the other people management.
The system design round did not go well. The interviewer was not listening, and their video was off, which is not a good practice for a virtual interview. In system design, they asked about a system I had designed and also presented a standard system design question. The people management round featured standard questions on that topic.
Having conducted multiple interviews in my current role and also participated in several interviews myself, this is not how a candidate should be treated.
