Pros: Dropbox is full of talented people with the freedom to express their talents. People have a lot of freedom to choose which projects they work on and how they work on them. And that culture extends throughout the company. The perks and benefits are good, and people use them. Free food is the norm in tech these days, but what Tuck Shop turns out is unlike anything I've seen at any other company. Actually, that doesn't do it justice. The Tuck Shop turns out food that can go toe-to-toe with any trendy SF restaurant you can name. Or you can always get a sandwich, a burger, pizza, or salad, if you're of the less adventurous type (but what's the fun in that?). There's also a slew of other benefits: * health/vision/dental * 401k match * donation match * commuter benefit * cell phone * gym (both on-site w/ free laundry and a $100/month subsidy for an outside gym) Basically, you name it, Dropbox has it. The culture embraces the fact that people work better when they have breaks, so people actually use their vacation days. And people work pretty flexible hours.

Cons: The pace of growth brings some problems. For one thing, everyone has to spend a lot of time interviewing potential new Dropboxers. For another, growth means every week there are more desks and fewer marginal spaces (e.g. couches) until we get more office space. The people you're sitting next to today are unlikely to be the people you're sitting next to two months from now. Also, to make the freedom work, there are a lot of meetings.

Pros: Dropbox has some of the smartest — and nicest! — people around. The company is growing rapidly, which means there are more interesting problems to solve and growth opportunities than there are people to solve them all. It's also a chance to see how things really work at a high-growth company; management is extremely transparent. The problem space is well beyond simply file sharing at this point, and there are plenty of interesting new projects in development for product-focused folks. Our infrastructure challenges are second only to a handful of companies (like Google or Facebook), but we're getting to build that infrastructure from the ground up, with a chance to learn from those that have come before us.

Cons: For some folks, the constant change might be a con. Dropbox is growing incredibly fast, so everything that worked a year or two ago needs to be re-evaluated against higher scale.

Pros: Well-built management team that truly seems to value work-life balance. Industry-leading benefits. Seems to remain committed to a virtual-first commitment (despite cutting some of the benefits). Reasonably flexible working hours with core hours for meetings. Quarterly paid on-sites to hang out with your team and get to know each other better. Working among some of the best and brightest, alongside a very strictly curated culture. I can genuinely say I enjoy working alongside my teammates. Continues to try and innovate (occasionally at their detriment, see cons).

Cons: - Pivots too soon on bets, feels like we're chasing the industry rather than innovating. - Recent instability at the company and current "Moving Faster" directive has employees on edge. - You can definitely feel it in the atmosphere during meetings. - Upper management should recognize the remaining employees deserve some sort of morale booster after recent RIF, rather than further cuts to benefits. - You will not pull in industry-leading talent if your employees aren't your advocates.
