I was contacted by the recruiter for a phone screen. I explained my approach and coded up the problem in 25 minutes, leaving a good amount of time for discussion and follow-up questions. I also performed a dry run of my approach.
Then the interviewer asked me a lot of questions on scalability and I/O operations related to the problem. I felt I had good insights and shared all the trade-offs of different approaches to solve the scalability issues.
I was very happy with how well I did in the interview, but the next day, I received a standard rejection email.
Leetcode medium.
