Software Engineer (Internship) Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

October 1, 2020
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process included an "OA" (online assessment) with two questions, followed by a phone round a couple of days later with one question on a coding platform where you run the code. The final round consisted of three back-to-back interviews: the first two were coding interviews, and the last was behavioral.

The first interviewer was very condescending, which left a bad taste in my mouth throughout the rest of the interviews.

I sensed that the company has an exclusive, elitist culture. However, I had better offers elsewhere, and the "virtual first" approach is a big red flag. I would not recommend anyone apply after what I experienced.

Questions

The first round involved a LeetCode Medium problem. The final rounds included a LeetCode Hard problem followed by a LeetCode Medium problem. The behavioral interview consisted of a list of redundant questions about projects I had completed, which were fairly easy to answer.
