I applied online. A recruiter contacted me a few weeks after that and scheduled a phone screening. The phone screening was nice and easy.
After that, I received a coding puzzle (it was basically the code of an app that I had to review). It took me about 5 hours to write an essay describing what was wrong.
A week later, I received an email stating that I had passed the coding puzzle and that eBay looked forward to meeting me as soon as possible for an onsite interview. However, the recruiter only responded to my emails after a couple of days.
Two days after that, I managed to finally select a date. I waited for approval for two weeks, then received an email where the recruiter asked me to wait another week because they had an interview with another developer earlier, and they would only come back to me if they didn't hire him/her.
Needless to say, if we had scheduled the interview right after I received the email about passing the coding puzzle, I would have been able to come earlier.
