Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Jose, California

Process

I received a LinkedIn request from eBay HR regarding a position available at Xcommerce, one of their companies. I had a telephonic interview which went well. The interviewer told me the next step would be an in-person visit to San Jose. I did not hear back from them, so I followed up with an email.

Subsequently, another contact called me to inform me about a Quality Engineer position, not an SE role. I stated that I was not interested and only wanted to work in a Product Development team, not in QA.

Again, they arranged another telephonic round with a different lead. That also went well. This individual then arranged a telephonic interview with their manager. That round was acceptable, and I did not hear back from them.

I still do not understand why I had three telephonic interview rounds. It seems the recruitment process is not following a particular procedure.
