Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Jose, California

Process
The process involved a phone screen, followed by onsite interviews. The interviews were average. They did not have the courtesy to provide feedback after I spent five hours interviewing. I believe I performed very well in all of them. This was my worst experience with eBay, and I don't think I want to apply there again.

eBay Search is the most political and the worst group I have ever worked in during my career
Software Engineer • Current Employee
San Jose, California, United States
May 31, 2013
Pros: Competitive salary, MacBook. Stock is doing fine.
Cons: eBay search is run in a very disorganized fashion. They are developing a new search engine which only a few folks are allowed to touch. The rest of the engineers are not utilized properly, and no one cares for the end product. Most engineers have left the group, and many are in the process of leaving the group. Managers lack technical expertise and are busy playing politics and using one against another. This was not the case earlier. I would seriously advise you not to join the search group, as this will be a total waste of time.
