Outsource too much. Hire a lot of people who are not creative, just to get the project done. Very little focus on the stability of the system and the quality of code. Very, very, very bad build and release system, all built in-house. Business units change their minds very often as to what they want, making for very low-quality sites.
Focus more on employee relations.
Don't try to apply the USA model to every country.
Growth is not everything; start working on quality, and the company will continue to grow naturally.
eBay could easily take over Amazon and online retailers if they start to work on their own system, rather than trying to develop a platform that others can build off of.
