Associate Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

I received a phone call in July after applying in May for a position I didn't even apply to, but it aligned well with my skill set. The recruiter informed me that someone would contact me the next day to schedule an interview time. I did receive a call to come in the following week and a confirmation email the day after.

I then visited for an onsite interview and met the team, who were a great group of people. There were 5 of them, I believe, including the development manager. Each person asked me questions, and it appeared they had a set agenda for what they planned to accomplish during the interview.

First, I was asked about my education and employment experience. Then came technical questions (C#, SQL, Concurrency, OO Principles, etc.). Following that were questions about teamwork, adapting to changing requirements, and time management. Next, they asked if I had any specific questions. That concluded the interview, which only took an hour, the full time allotted.

Finally, I needed to take the skills test, which apparently takes 3 hours. However, IT was experiencing computer issues, so HR stated they would email it to me. I sent thank you notes to everyone the next day and asked the talent coordinator when I could expect to receive the email for the test. I inquired once a week for a month, and then two weeks later, I asked if I was still being considered for the position, as I hadn't received anything yet and the position was still posted.

There was no reply, so I called. I was told someone should be getting in touch with me the next day, and she provided a number just in case. No call was received, so I called and left a message. I sent her an email with no reply. I called again a week after my message and email, and it now goes straight to voicemail. How crummy!

After some research, I've learned that EA is notorious for leaving candidates in the dark. It's as if they've never applied for a job before!

The position is still posted, so perhaps they just haven't updated the site yet.
