Senior Java Developer Interview Experience

Process

  • Coding Interviews: I usually like coding interviews. My experience with EA interviewers was unpleasant.

First, a virtual whiteboard was used with no syntax highlighting nor runtime. Come on EA, we are in 2021!

An interviewer was focusing on useless details instead of the real point of the question. I found the answer instantly, but the interviewer wanted me to find a compilation error in my code for a few minutes (a semicolon was missing on line 29!!!).

An interviewer did not understand his own exercise (why a recursive method could produce StackOverflowException).

After a few minutes of the first interview, I knew I would not want to work there, but I had to finish this painful day!

  • Interview with Managers: Most of the interview was about how I could handle pressure. I was surprised to discover that this kind of management still exists. Is that supposed to motivate me to work for you?

Questions

  • Chained list exercise,
  • Easy DB questions
