EA has ridiculously good benefits. The pay ranges are decent but not outstanding, and working in video games is, overall, an enjoyable occupation.
Studios prefer to hire from outside to fill unoccupied roles, while ignoring the development of internal candidates. In addition, at least on the projects I've been a part of, internal promotion paths are unclear and require several years in a given role before they become feasible.
Give more preference to the development of internal talent and open up more promotion opportunities. People want to feel upwardly mobile in their positions and will seek employment elsewhere if they're not making headway.
