Consistent time crunches, bad and overly-strict scheduling, poor treatment of contract workers, underpaying employees compared to industry standards, management focusing on perceived output rather than quality of work, and many more that I could go on about.
Focus on results rather than output. Fight for direct reports when they're being challenged by another department rather than letting some departments reign supreme. Treat contract workers like they're worth something instead of disposable.
