Pros
  1. Relevance: Most people have a chance to work on things that will be seen by millions of people.
  2. Talented People: There are a lot of talented people that you'll get to work with.
  3. Things Move Fast: Don't get stuck overthinking what-ifs; instead, there's a strong bias for building stuff and trying it out.
Cons
  1. Relentless Pace: Fortnite players expect a lot of new stuff every year, so there's seldom time to really catch your breath before you're on to the next challenge.
  2. Short Deadlines: VPs can say something publicly that leads to a mountain of work that needs to be delivered in a timeline that necessitates crunch.
Advice to Management
  1. The buck stops with you—don't let your stress or the pressure you are getting from above rain down on your team.
  2. Spend time getting your team aligned. Making sure your team understands the "why" of what you are doing and where they are going will pay dividends, even though it can take a lot of time up front.
