First, the recruiter sent me an email to introduce me to the interview process. He told me they would first schedule a phone screen with me and that I needed to take an online exam. Based on the performance on these tests, they would decide if they would offer me an on-site interview.

In the online test, there was a part where they introduced me to a new 'programming language' and explained its basic syntax. After that, there were many questions based on the new language. I think the purpose of this part is to test if the interviewee is able to learn and use a new language quickly.
