Software Developer Interview Experience - United States

Process

I was interviewed for a position as a software developer. At first, it was a casual phone interview, not really on the technical side, but more about why you want the job and what your qualifications are for it.

The second part of the interview process included the epic exam. I thought like most of the questions in the exam didn't fit what a software developer really needs to do. It covered quite a big scope.

I would suggest they give a material for the applicant to learn and then test them with it. Not everybody can prove themselves in an online test; it truly depends on too many factors, such as time taken, emotion at the time, and state of mind. I would also suggest testing them through a technical Skype interview to really get a feel of the candidate rather than tagging them with a test score.
