Software Developer Interview Experience - United States

Process

Met with a recruiter at a college career fair. They reached out to me for a phone interview and then an online proctored exam.

The exam is estimated to take 2-3 hours, which is exceptionally long.

After this, if they decide to move forward with you, they move on to an on-site interview.

The skills assessment is both a behavioral questionnaire as well as programming in a text editor.

You are unable to check syntax or compile your results, so you are basically just winging it, hopefully getting in the right direction.

Overall, after having applied and interviewed with over 10 companies, this was probably the worst because of the 2-hour exam, which ended up being a complete waste of time, as opposed to no other company requiring that long of a skills assessment.
