Beautiful campus, great food. Good money, but not sure how it stacks up to other companies like Google.
Very old technology, clunky product, many hours of uninteresting classes, projects, and exams.
I am in an office all by myself, which sounds nice, but there are no windows (probably not common, but still), and it is very hard for me to meet other people, especially other software developers besides the ones in my team. Even then, it's hard to get to know them.
Within the past year, Epic now has all SD-related classes done on your own in your own office, which means I don't get to meet any of the new recruits. This was a terrible move in my opinion.
There seems to be this philosophy that putting all of the developers in seclusion makes them more productive, but this has had the opposite effect on me.
My team lead and mentor have both been extremely nice, but this has not alleviated my concerns. I have an offer from Google and will be leaving Epic within the month.
Make it easier for socially awkward developers to meet other socially awkward developers.
I had to take a lot of tests and had a phone interview where I talked about my past projects. The tests were hours long and took a long time.
30-minute phone screen, then an OA around 4 hours long. The OA had mental math, but also a few LeetCode-type problems. They were not very difficult if you studied common patterns and implementation.
One single virtual interview after a multihour OA. The interview was 4 hours long, but only ~2 hours was actual interview stuff. The rest was two presentations from different people about life at Epic. The 2 hours of interview included a case study,
