Epic's culture is great. It has all of the benefits of being a sizable corporation without most of the toxic corporate/office politics.
For example, team leadership/management isn't the only advancement opportunity, nor is it an expectation. If you and your manager think you'd be a good team lead, you transfer into that role slowly, and they actually train you for it! If it isn't a good fit, there's no stigma against stepping back into your previous non-management role. There's no "promotion to your level of least competence"—at least not long term.
The compensation package is great (with the caveats below). The healthcare package is about as good as I've seen anywhere. The every-five-year Sabbatical program is a fantastic addition to the normal PTO.
Team leads can vary in their skill and fit with individual employees. Though I've had great experiences for almost my entire tenure, I have known a number of former employees driven away by bad team leadership, and a number of current employees who have requested transfers rather than continuing to work with their TL.
If this is your first job out of college and you haven't yet figured out work-life balance, Epic is going to pull a lot of hours toward work. If you're not assertive with your time and aware of your need for downtime, you can burn out.
You apply for PM or TS, and they may let you know you are also considered for the QM role. The interview includes a presentation that you have to make. I think it is effectively the same as PM, but you are judged for PM (IS) or QM.
The first round was an online assessment and a phone interview. The online assessment consisted of math, reasoning, and programming-based questions. The phone interview was informal and just a conversation about the position.
30-minute phone interview and a 4-step skills test. The phone interview is a back-and-forth about items on your resume, with an extra discussion about what the interviewer does at the company and their experience.
