Software Engineer Interview Experience - Brooklyn, New York

Process

The process involved a HackerRank exercise focused on debugging a web application. This was followed by a brief, low-stress phone call with a recruiter.

If successful, candidates are invited for an onsite interview and provided with accommodation at a super swanky hotel. The office environment is described as super cool.

The onsite interview included debugging a Flask application and adding enhancements, followed by a discussion with a manager. The interview was relatively low-stress and, while unusual for a tech company, was considered a realistic assessment of daily work.

Feedback on the interviewers: My first tech interviewer did not provide much help, but my second was better in this regard.

The interview was not necessarily difficult, but rather unusual (though perceived as fair).

Regarding company culture: It seems mixed. My second interviewer appeared somewhat unhappy with the company, which was noted as strange.

However, all interactions were very pleasant, and communication was fast.

Overall, it was a good experience.
