Software Engineer (Internship) Interview Experience - Brooklyn, New York

Process

  1. A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn to complete a coding challenge.

  2. The coding challenge involved debugging a web application using JavaScript, with approximately 6-7 objectives to complete within 1.5 hours. I finished 6 out of 7 objectives quite early and couldn't quite figure out the last one.

  3. I was invited on-site to their Dumbo, Brooklyn office. I had two 45-minute interviews: one behavioral (e.g., "tell me about a time...") and one technical. The technical interview was very similar to the coding challenge, except it was in Python, a language I had never coded in before. I only learned it would be used 30 minutes before the interview, but they were very helpful in providing syntax for the language during the interview. It was otherwise pretty easy, especially if the coding challenge was easy for you.

  4. I received a call two days later that I got the offer.

Note: Communication throughout the recruitment process could have been a bit better and more organized. However, they were very nice and responsive when it mattered.
