Pros

Company nearing maturity, which presents many opportunities for accomplishments.

Cons

Lack of focus. In my area (very technical), management was ineffective and overbearing. We had a great team, but program management was ineffective and overly self-indulgent. It was sad, as there were a lot of good things we could have done, but lack of technical experience and no vision or focus resulted in much dissatisfaction.

Advice to Management

Pay attention to your line managers and your individual contributors. Don't be afraid to sweep some of the chaff away, and you will give your folks hope while you work through your difficult transitions in the months and years ahead as you come to terms with what you are going to do and how.
