Backend Engineer Interview Experience - Toronto, Ontario
Process
The process was very quick, about two weeks. I'm a new grad.
First, there was a phone call with the recruiter, which was not technical. Then, I was sent a Codesignal test right after. I had a previous score in the 790s, so I submitted that.
There was a very quick response after the Codesignal to schedule a final round consisting of two technical interviews and one interview with a hiring manager.
The two technical interviews weren't exactly LeetCode questions; it was more about reasoning through and implementing 'practical' code. The interview was structured in a way that you are essentially pair programming with the interviewers, which was really fun.
The final round with the hiring manager was purely behavioral.
I received a response the next day with an offer. It was an amazing experience. The recruiter was responsive, and the interviewers were fantastic to talk to.
Really smart engineers from top-tier tech backgrounds are working at Faire. It's a rocket ship startup with no clear competitors in a hot market and the best offer I've gotten in Toronto, beating FAANGs in terms of compensation.

The company is also very diverse and has time dedicated to celebrating the many cultures and groups represented within the company. Faire is also a rapidly growing company with very strong future prospects.Cons: The only thing I've really found less enjoyable has been finding my way around some of the codebase. It gets a bit confusing at times, especially since the backend is currently one monolith (though we are moving away from this), but it's no worse than at previous employers.
