After initial discussion with HR, who sits in the USA, I had 3 rounds of interview with a tech lead, the hiring manager, and the company's CTO.
All interviews went very well, and I was selected.
HR then scheduled a meeting regarding any offer I had. She happily said that they would be matching my offer. I was happy too, as Fanatics is a big name, and I was happy that I was selected for it.
But after that, HR went silent for 2 weeks without any communication. I asked for an update on the offer through mail, but received no reply.
After 2 weeks, HR informed me that they were moving forward with other candidates.
HR already knew the offer I had in hand. Still, she continued with the interview and then, in the end, rejected me without any proper detail, even though I successfully cleared all tech rounds.
This is the worst kind of behavior I've observed from HR of a company. If you don't have the budget, tell this directly to the candidate in the first HR discussion only. Why wait so long just for the sake of rejecting the candidate at last?
