Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bellevue, Washington

Process

I was contacted by their recruiter and had a 30-minute conversation. A week and a half later, I had a tech screen.

Then, two weeks later, I did the all-day interview, which included:

  • Discussion with the hiring manager
  • Coding interview
  • Project deep dive
  • System design interview
  • System design interview
  • Wrap-up with the recruiter

This was a bait and switch. I was originally led to believe it would be 3 hours: coding, system design, and a hiring manager discussion. I wish I would have stepped out after seeing what they signed me up for in the all-day interview.

No company is worth that amount of stress, self-degradation, and (self) gaslighting. I'm happy with the interviewers; most were attentive, kind, and smart. I'm happy with how I did.

They ignored my requests for feedback, so I don't see any opportunities for growth, even in a process this brutal.
