The first "interview" was with a recruiter for about 30 minutes. It featured fairly standard behavioral questions.
Then, a second call occurred about a month later with a staff engineer. This was a pretty negative experience.
I found the interviewer abrasive. He raised his voice at me repeatedly, emphasized he had better things to be doing, and was overall fairly belittling. Although I'll admit my answer to the technical (System Design) question was not great, having someone berating and interrupting did not help me.
I've done well over 150 interviews for my current company. Regardless of how a candidate performs, we treat them with professionalism and respect. I'd like to think Flexport trains its interviewers the same way, and I had someone who fell asleep during their training.
System design question.
Not too unusual.
