I interviewed at Flipkart (PhonePe).
The initial discussion was telephonic, where the interviewer asked Android-related questions. The questions were good, and I appreciated his knowledge.
Later, I was invited for the F2F interview.
The first round was DS/Algo. The interviewer asked two scenario-based questions. I answered the first one, explaining the complexity and data structure. For the next one, I provided a solution that was partially correct.
He mentioned, "I am not expecting the exact solution, as the question itself is pretty tough and requires time to solve. I just wanted to test the thinking process." Overall, it was a healthy discussion. Afterward, he started giving some random logic for solving the second question, which I thought was incorrect.
After a 20-minute wait, someone said that the interviewer did not want to proceed further, without explaining what went wrong.
My take: I felt the process was very random, and I was not evaluated properly. The interviewer seemed to have no experience in conducting interviews. He has been working for Flipkart for a long time but has no idea how to evaluate candidates. This is what happens when junior-level people conduct interviews.
When I asked about the technologies PhonePe uses for the backend, he was unable to answer and gave a random reply: "You can use any technology you want. As an Android developer, I just need REST APIs and don't care much about what is happening in the backend."
A client is sending analytics events for clicking products. You have to find out the k top most clicked products.
The second question was an extension of the first one, where they said, what if you have to find the top K products in the last 20 minutes?
