Senior Mechanical Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

I had two interviews. The first was just with HR, asking me regular questions about my visa and my availability. The HR was really helpful and gave constructive comments for preparation for the technical interview.

Then I had another technical interview, which was really long. It took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes on the phone, asking the most technical questions one might imagine. Three people were asking questions as if I were doing my PhD qualifying exam, even harder :)

Questions

Many technical FEA questions. Questions on fatigue and failure criteria, questions on theory of elasticity, plasticity, and also my previous FEA modeling experiences. The Team Leader also asked me if I have ever been in a situation where I had to convince someone with whom I had a disagreement, and whether I was successful or not.
