Pros

Job security. The engineering team is friendly and committed; most people there want to do a good job. Plenty of travel opportunities, a good understanding of work/life balance, and the ability to live in Melbourne.

Cons

Bureaucracy.

The company is large, which necessitates systems and processes to ensure that goals are met. However, the time spent attending to metrics and working with unwieldy, poorly designed systems is too great.

Focus on cost, which often overrides every other consideration, becomes frustrating.

Poorly designed offices with minimal natural light, and an outer suburb location.

Advice to Management

Streamline the reporting process, allowing more time for actual design and engineering. Trust that the team is dedicated to engineering a great product. Inflationary pay increases are a bare minimum, and people get highly demotivated when salaries decrease in real terms. Performance-related bonuses would help motivation. Where's your passion for exciting cars gone? Let's not become another Toyota.
